Care, Damage & Deposit Policy
This policy explains how hired equipment should be cared for, how damage is handled, and how deposits are managed.
Your responsibilities during hire
While a wheel is on hire, you are responsible for:

using the equipment for its intended purpose

following the care and safety guidance provided
-
keeping the wheel clean and in good working condition

ensuring the wheel is kept in a safe, dry environment

The wheel should only be used indoors and must not be exposed to rain, excessive moisture, or extreme temperatures.

Care & cleaning
Basic care is straightforward and expected:

clean the wheel and splash pan after each use
-
avoid forcing clay beyond the wheel’s recommended capacity

keep water away from electrical components
-
do not modify or dismantle the wheel
Normal wear and tear from reasonable use is expected and accepted.
Damage & faults
If something doesn’t feel right, or if the wheel is damaged or develops a fault, please contact us as soon as possible.

Do not attempt repairs

Do not continue using faulty equipment
Prompt communication helps us resolve issues quickly and fairly.
What counts as normal wear and tear
Normal wear and tear includes:

minor cosmetic marks
-
light surface scratches
-
expected signs of regular use
This will not be deducted from your deposit.
What may result in deposit deductions
The following may result in deductions from your refundable deposit:

damage caused by misuse or negligence
-
electrical damage due to water exposure
-
missing parts or accessories
-
excessive clay buildup or poor cleaning
-
damage caused during unauthorised movement or transport
Any deductions will be discussed with you and supported by clear explanation.
Deposit details

A refundable deposit is required for all rentals

The deposit is held for the duration of the hire

It is returned once the wheel is collected and checked
Where deductions are necessary, we will notify you before the deposit is returned.
End of hire condition
At the end of your hire, the wheel should be:

clean
-
free from excess clay and water
-
safely accessible for collection
Please allow time for basic cleaning before collection.

Fair use
We aim to be fair and reasonable at all times.
Our approach is to protect equipment while recognising that pottery is a practical, hands-on activity.
