The entry-level Shimpo RK-55 is belt-driven and lightweight. Perfect for beginners. This is an established design having been sold for many years. In common with the other wheels in the Shimpo range, it has the 2-piece splash pan, remote foot pedal and the wheel head will rotate clockwise and anticlockwise.

Alternative option: Premium full-size wheel

 

If you’re looking for a studio-style experience at home, we also offer the Shimpo Whisper-T full-size pottery wheel, which provides greater stability for larger pieces. The Whisper-T has five adjustable leg settings, and can even be set up as a tabletop wheel - perfect if you’re tall, petite, or simply want to customise your throwing posture.

All Pottery At Home rentals include the following equipment and essentials:

 

• Shimpo Whisper-T pottery wheel by Nidec Shimpo

• Pottery @ Home welcome pack (yours to keep)

• Cleaning & throwing essentials, including:

  • cleaning sponge

  • large bucket (for transport and cleaning)

• Setup installation instructions

 

Everything arrives ready to use.

Pottery At Home Welcome Pack (yours to keep)

 

Your welcome pack is included with your first hire and is yours to keep. It contains everything you need to get started:

 

• Starter tool set

  • Needle tool

  • Wooden rib

  • Metal rib

  • Loop / trimming tool

  • Wire cutter

  • Sponge

• Clay

  • One bag of general-purpose stoneware clay (12.5kg), suitable for beginner and intermediate use

• Extras

  • Pottery At Home apron

  • Quick-start guide covering setup, care, and basic use

  • Guidance on firing locally via KilnShare, so you know how and where to fire your work when it’s ready

A refundable deposit is required for all rentals.
